We use software for many purposes, like, keeping accounts, calculating, etc…we need software to do any kind of work in a computer and thus, demand for software is very high in the market. There are various audits being performed by the companies such as inventory audit, security audit, software audits etc. this has helped the companies to restrict the piracy.

People buy the software which they think is helpful to them. Everyone needs software to get their work done, and thus, some people buy these and some get this software pirated and buy them at lower cost. This would benefit the users but the companies who have put a lot of money into the making of this software would have to face great loss. This software piracy is done by copying original software and duplicating it and selling them or when friends borrow software from each other. This leads to illegal piracy and affects the companies heavily. Thus some companies have taken steps to stop piracy and make people buy the original versions of software only. Companies have started software audits which help them to reduce the amount of piracy taking place in the world.

Software audits are done so as to know who cheats the company and who doesn’t. Software audits are process where the company checks a user’s computer to know if the user uses any software which is not original. If the company gets any software from the computer, the user has to pay the penalty for it and has to cooperate further into the investigation. Companies like Microsoft, Autodesk, BSA, SIIA etc… have started the process of auditing and are preventing software from getting illegally copied or pirated or getting used. Illegal use can be done by putting fake codes in software or by borrowing and putting the original codes in software. Thus, software audits are held with the aim of stopping piracy and helping the companies to get the profit they deserve.
